One Day Trip To Lake Bled, Slovenia

Bled is by no doubt the most visited and known places in Slovenia, and to be honest it completely deserves this reputation. Is is usually my place to relax, to refill the energy while I enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Last weekend my friends got married at this fairy tale destination and I have to say it was one of the most romantic weddings I have ever attended. They couldn’t pick out better place for a ceremony, saying I do, looking at the medieval castle up on the hill! Ohhh, I still get the goosebumps!

As we spend the whole weekend at Bled, we took advantage and decided to visit nearby Vintgar! After our trip I put together some options for a one day trip to Bled just for you.

1. SWIMMING AT LAKE BLED

Bled is a perfect place to cool down in the high peak of the Summer. There are many places around the lake that offer pleasant beaches, but the best one is the main one right in front of Camping Bled (Zaka), where you can also park your car. Parking will cost you 10 Eur a day, but you have other options as well, just much further away. For the ones that love hiking, one of the most known hills with the best view of Lake Bled, Island and Castle – Ojstrica is just few minutes away by foot. I recommend to wake up early in the morning and observe first rays of sunrise up on a bench!

2. VISIT BLED CASTLE

Bled experience wouldn’t be perfect without grand view to capture beauties of Gorenska region. Up on the hill there is a medieval castle, overlooking Lake Bled and Julian Alps. Magnificent views combined with history of the castle, will take you back in time. And a recommendation for all of you gurmans, don’t forget to visit wine cellar and one of the finest restaurants in Slovenia – Castle Restaurant.

The best way to get up there is by car, but if you prefer hiking, than even better. There is an entrance fee and here is the price list.

3. VINTGAR GORGE BLED

Not only Bled, its surroundings are wort to visit as well. This was my second time at Vintgar and I would highly recommend you to visit this natural beauty if you are in the area. It is a 4 km drive from Lake Bled and the whole tour takes around 1 h. But the turquoise color of Radovana River, 1,6 km long Vintgar and impressive vegetation is something you must see! There is a small entrance fee (5 Eur) and at the end of the tour there is a small coffee shop where you can buy drinks and snacks.
