Los Angeles Travel Guide, California

Hi guys!

Sorry for my absence, but I was traveling big time in past few days. First me and Blaz visited California, where we enjoyed sunny LA, then we part ways (Blaz went to Australia and me back to Columbus), and now I’m already back in my beautiful snowy Slovenia joined with my family and friends (but just for few weeks). As we have winter wonderland here, I thought the best way to worm up is to drink hot coco next to the fireplace and write a travel guide of sunny LA.

We were in Lalaland for 5 days, and we spent most of the time on tennis courts, but everyday we tried to find at least one thing to explore and here are trips and tips that I put together for you!

1. SANTA MONICA PIER AND PACIFIC PARK

During our stay we visited famous Santa Monica and Venice beach.

Santa Monica Pier is one of the most recognisable spots on the Los Angeles coastline, and we absolutely loved it. From the view of the Pacific ocean, to the amusement park and the range of tasty food, it is one of the best LA experiences for sure.

And there is family fun attraction everyone will like, The Pacific Park.  With its iconic entrance,  is located on the Santa Monica Pier and it offers an ocean view. We were short on time, so we didn’t try the rides, but I would definitely recommend you to experience the Pacific Park and awake the child within you.

2. WALK THE VENICE BEACH BOARDWALK

I love sandy beaches and everything that goes with it and if the city offers one, I’m there! So Venice beach was at the top of our LA attraction list. Plus, excellent choice of beach for anyone who likes to be active or chill and for those who want to experience a funky side of Los Angeles. Venice beach has it all, the muscle beach posers, surfers, skater kids, street performers, art displays, a pier, postcard perfect sunsets and of course a dreamy sandy beach.

It is the 2nd largest tourist attraction after Disneyland and it is also known for famous movie sets like Speed, White Man Can’t Jump and of course the famous TV show, Baywatch.

It is full of coffee shops, restaurants and shops and I’m sure there is an interesting thing to see for each character.

3. HOLLYWOOD WALK OF FAME

Do you want to see a movie star? Well, that’s going to be tricky, but you can visit Hollywood walk of fame and take pictures with their stars. At least something, right? Put your comfortable sneakers on and prepare for quite a long walk, as there are more than 2.500 stars waiting for you to find them.

4. HOLLYWOOD SIGN FROM THE GRIFFITH OBSERVATORY

I don’t really understand the fuss about Hollywood sign, that is really just letters spelling out the name of a town on the side of a mountain, but because of the presence in pop culture, it has become iconic for entertainment industry, so of course I had to go see this modern wonder.

When I was planning our trip to Hollywood Hills, I found out that the best view was supposed to be from Griffith Observatory. It is truly amazing, especially because you as well see Griffith Observatory at the same time, but it wasn’t what I had in mind. I wanted a view right under the famous sign, when Griffith view is a bit far away. Anyway, if you are going there for the first time, I would recommend this place, since the observation deck at the Griffith offers grand panoramic views, both day and night. By day, you will be treated to magnificent views of the Hollywood sign, as well as great views of the LA skyline. By night, it’s a romantic place to star-gaze and take in the city lights.

5. TAKE A TOUR OF THE HOLLYWOOD HOMES IN  BEVERLY HILLS AND BEL AIR

For this tour we decided not to take a tour bus but we went on our own instead. You can find a star home map on internet and with a help of Google maps it is very easy to find a home of your favorite celebrity.

I was hoping to see one, but instead I saw high brick walls that keep away the prying eyes of annoying tourists like us, but anyways we still had a lot of fun driving around Beverly Hills and Bel Air.

Hope my pictures and travel tips inspired you to visit City of Angels!

With love, Vanesa S.
